Korea Independence Movement Day, 'Samiljeol' - March 1

March 1 is Korea Independence Movement Day, called as ‘Sam-il Jeol’, which commemorates a nation-wide independence movement.

On 1, March, 1919, independence movement took place in all over the nation to protest against the ruling by Japan. At that time, many people went out into the street to participate the peaceful demonstration, Man-se Demonstration and the declaration of independence was revealed at a rally in Seoul. Man-se Demonstration was the most memorable peace demonstration in Korea’s history. 

People who took part in this demonstration had only Taegukgi which is a flag of Korea and shouted for freedom without any weapons, while marching through the street.

In 2017, the second most memorable peace demonstration is taking place in Gwanghwamun, which is a candlelight vigil. It is said that the candlelight vigil is not only the strongest resistance, but also the most beautiful and peaceful resistance in the world.

Korea; the country where resists against an irrationality, 

and also aims at peace.
