Hanok, the Korea traditional house

Hanok, the Korea traditional house

I hope you will see the beauty of Hanok

The best feature of Hanok is Ondol and Daecheong.
Ondol is a unique heating system by heated rock during winter season. A wide Daecheong is a system for keeping the house cool during summer season. Those systems were the best ways to cope with the winter and the summer.

Especially, Ondol led Korea unique cultures which are the lifestyle of sleeping sitting on the floor instead of beds or sofas and taking off shoes in home.
When it is freezing like today, if you have a cup of tea while lying down on Ondol, you would feel cozy and happiness you havent felt before.

Hanok has two different style houses, which are Tile-roofed Hanok and Thatch-roofed Hanok. While thatch-roofed Hanok was the commoners house in the olden time, tile-roofed Hanok was the typical noblemans house.

Then shall we experience a bit of Hanok in Seoul?

Bukchon Hanok Village is the place where you can find lots of tile-roofed Hanok in Seoul built in Joseon Dynasty.
Today, Hanoks in the village are operated as cafes, restaurants and guesthouses. So there are various opportunities for you to learn and experience Korean traditional culture.
The walking through the village wearing Hanbok, Korean traditional dress is highly recommended for you.

Staying in Hanok Guesthouse is also the best way to experience Hanok.
Many Hanoks are operated as guesthouse in these days so that visitors can see the real Hanoks lifestyle and traditions. There are two kinds of Hanok guesthouses, which are the modernly decorated Hanok and the classic Hanok.

The things from history are always beautiful and valuable.
